Fulbright

The Fulbright Scholars Program is sponsored by the Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. State Department and provides funding for scholars, teachers, and professionals to undertake advanced research and teaching around the world.

University supports Ukrainian academics through Nonresidential Scholars Program

Penn State is one of nine Big Ten schools providing an academic lifeline to scholars in war-torn Ukraine. The University is sponsoring seven Ukrainian academics as part of the 2025 IU-Ukraine Nonresidential Scholars Program.

Scranton professor conducts virtual exchange with Egyptian university

Melissa LaBuda, assistant professor of human development and family studies at Penn State Scranton, recently completed an Experiential Digital Global Engagement project with students from her course, HDFS 301: Values and Ethics in the Helping Professions and partners from Helwan University, Egypt. Her students then proceeded to participate in the Harnessing Innovation through Virtual Exchange for Enhanced Results (HIVER) program.

Visit highlights empathy education with University of Galway and Cillian Murphy

Earlier this year, Sabine Klahr, the interim vice provost for Penn State Global, attended an “Acting with Empathy” event in Dublin, alongside Marc Brennan, professor and UNESCO chair; Max Crowle and Michael Donovan from the Penn State Edna Bennett Pierce Prevention Research Center; and two student delegates. The event, focused on empathy education, was co-hosted by the UNESCO Child and Family Research Centre with Irish actor and UNESCO patron Cillian Murphy.
