GLOBAL EMERGENCY FUND: SUPPORTING STUDENTS THROUGH GLOBAL CRISES
Each year, over 10,000 international students choose Penn State as the place to pursue a world-class education, contributing diverse perspectives that enhance our community and embody the "We Are" spirit. Yet, when faced with tragedy, their unique circumstances present distinct challenges. Unlike domestic students who can access federal and state resources, international students have very limited resources available to help. These remarkable and resilient students deserve to pursue their academic aspirations, especially when their homelands grapple with political conflicts or natural disasters.
Now, more than ever, it is crucial that we find a way to support these bright minds. Through gifts to the Global Emergency Fund, we can help international students cover costs like tuition, fees, travel, insurance, housing, and other living expenses in times of crisis. Near, far, wherever they’re from, students sometimes need a hand when the going gets tough. And with gifts to the Global Emergency Fund, we can help our Penn Staters who are furthest from home while making a powerful statement about the strength of our global community.
DAGOBERT AND ELSIE DE LEVIE STUDENT STUDY ABROAD FUND
This fund honors the founder of education abroad programming at Penn State, Dagobert de Levie and his wife Elsie. Since the 1960s, Penn State has been opening the world to our students through education abroad opportunities. Studying abroad is a unique opportunity for students to develop academically, personally, and professionally. Expanding students' global perspectives through immersive international experiences is a cornerstone of preparing our students to be responsible global citizens and leaders. While more than 3,000 students across the University typically participate in a study abroad experience each year, many more miss out due to the cost. Through the support of this fund, an increasing number of students can travel to parts of the world that they never thought they’d see—informing what they set out to accomplish with their careers and in their lives as global citizens.
