Provost’s Global Advisory Council
The Provost’s Global Advisory Council brings together diverse perspectives from leaders in academia, industry, and governmental and non-governmental organizations who provdie their collective insight and guidance to help guide the University’s global strategies in the coming years. The Council takes an active role in identifying opportunities and resources, particularly those that have the potential to build innovative public-private partnerships that can make a significant contribution to resolving major global challenges. A priority is on partnerships and programs that have the potential to cross disciplinary boundaries—building on the University’s strengths in interdisciplinary research—and integrate the University’s tripartite mission of teaching research and service. The Council will also help identify opportunities for Penn State faculty and students to engage globally, explore and evaluate strategies by which the University can advance its global mission, and help guide the evolution of the Global Penn State.
The Council meets twice a year, usually on Penn State’s University Park Campus. Each council member is appointed for an initial period of three years that may be renewed for a second-term of three years by mutual agreement. When a member has served two consecutive terms of three years each, s/he must rotate off the Council for at least a year before being eligible for re-appointment.
