About International Scholar Advising

International Scholar Advising is part of the Directorate of International Students & Scholars Advising, which is one of three Directorates in the University Office of Global Programs. Our goal is to assist and advise university staff, faculty, international scholars and their dependents, with immigration related issues and regulations.

  • We support and enhance Penn State's international goals and objectives as defined by the University by keeping abreast of ever-changing federal, immigration and labor regulations.
  • We provide strategic, consultative, and administrative support to all academic/administrative units as well as individual faculty members directly or indirectly involved in collaborating with, hiring, or sponsorship of international scholars.
  • We facilitate Penn State's faculty and international scholars' ability to concentrate on their substantive interest in teaching, research, and service, by ensuring compliance with all federal laws, rules, and regulation permitting the employment of foreign nationals.
  • We actively seek out cooperation with other Penn State units for advocacy for international programs and services.
